Can any one advise if there is a converter to create a .pdf file from a word document.

Alternatively is there a way to secure a word file that cannot be changed but only a read file.

To password protect a word document!

When you save the word document choose Save As.

Then in the window that opens asking where to save the file etc..

There's a button at the top called tools, press it and choose general options, you can then give the word document a modify password.

Open Office (a free office suite) allows you to create pdf files. You can import a Word document into Open Office and then create the pdf file.

They have a forum, and it seems the types of problem bretsky mentions are absent.

I have not used it, but it seems worth a go.
