Have you tried changing the boot order in the bios to first boot from cd.

Boot sequence: cd/hdd/floppy.

then insert the windows disc and reboot. You obviously have a corrupt registry and damaged drivers.

To enter the bios, either the delete key or F2 on startup. If these do not get you into the bios, check your manual.

Do you know if you have a recovery partition on the hdd ?

What model pc ?

  campal 14:51 31 Dec 2006

i am not sure if it has a recovery partition on the hdd, it is an evesham vale pc

  skidzy 14:54 31 Dec 2006

Try F11 on startup,it may be a different key if you have a recovery partition on the hdd.
If it exists, you will be given 3 options normally.

Will the system boot in safe mode,if so...have you tried system restore ?

  Technotiger 14:58 31 Dec 2006

Hmmm, I believe Evesham systems usually have a backup/restore partition somewhere.

  campal 15:05 31 Dec 2006

yes i have tried system restore and safe mode to no avail

  skidzy 15:08 31 Dec 2006

In that case if the system will not boot at all, open the case and check all connections and the fans are clear while you are there inside.

Have you tried the F11 or maybe a different key.
