I've just started to get a crackle which goes up and down with increased volume - any ideas? Dust??

Where from? Speaker(s), hard drive, PSU?

from the speakers, is not majorly loud but goes up and down with sound

If you've gat a physical volume control (a Knob) they are notorious for causing crackling.

If its the potentiometer control, usually means muck, if you can get at it, which is unlikely, a spray with contact cleaner will sort it out, only other thing you can try is quickly spin it through its range several times, sometimes work
