CPU Temp suddenly high?

  Muckleface 17:04 11 Apr 2004

I have MSI PC Alert to monitor the temperatue of my AMD Athlon 2700 CPU.

It normally runs at a temperature of between 42-45oC, but during the past week or so its been running at 47-52oC?!

I havent been using my PC anymore than usual and havent been multi-tasking or running full video/intense gfx progams any more than usual, so Im unsure why the CPU temperature has raised?

Is it a sign of a fault with the CPU? Or the motherboard maybe?

Any advice?

Have you looked at the fan/CPU.

It could simply be a build up of dust on the fan.

In any event a temperature of 47-52 is nothing to be concerned about. My 2000+ has never run below 50 degrees and in the summer is normally at 55-57 degrees.
