I RECENTLY BOUGHT AMD 2400XP CPU. I HAVE GIGABYTE GA-7DXR M/BOARD ON GIGABYTE WEBSITE IT RECOMENDS TO UPDATE BIOS TO F10A, I DID SO (NO PROBLEMS THERE).THE CPU FREQUENCY STATES IT IS 15X ON WEB WHEREAS IN MANUAL CPU FREQ.IS ONLY 12.X. IT ALSO HAS AUTO (DEFUALT), I AM NOT SURE ON THE SETTING ,ANY HELP WOULD BE GRATFULLY WELCOME THANKS BIGLY

if you look very closely you will see a * beside the fsb and at the bottom it says

*There speed settings are not guaranteed by GIGABYTE.
The specifiction and pictures are subject to change without notice.

There should be a 7/15x muliplier.

Highlight the 12x, press Enter then use the up and down arrows to look for it.

PS

I assume your using 133 because 133*15=1995Mhz which is right for 2400.

If you can't find 15(!) try using 166, and using 12x because 166*12=1992Mhz.

This is how my CPU is set, so that I have the CPU at 333 (2*166=332 or 333) and my DDR Ram at 333 (PC2700) This is TECHNICALLY an overclock, but not a very big one. More of an overtweak really :)

so does that mean it is no good for m/b

honest answer,i dont know i would tend to err on the side of caution where these things are concerned and would stick with the settings as in the mobo manual untill you get some more advice.

MartinT-B`s answer seems logical to me.be careful though and read up on the manual thoroughly before changing any settings.

the cpu is 266 whereas m.b freq is 95-150mhz could [email protected] do?=1825mhz!!!

  MartinT-B 20:24 23 May 2003

I can't answer this one!

I'm confused by the 95-150Mhz.

All the PCs I have come across have 100, 133 and 166 and nowadays 200.

BUMP

Can you change it using the jumpers on board ie j19 and j20 they are for 100 133 and 66MHz

Have you got the switches to auto if not do so and reboot see what comes up.The new bios should auto detect it as 2400[according to a forum thread I have just seen]
