CPU and MOBO upgrade.

Hi all, I want to up grade my PC as I have found it has slowed down due to the anti virus, spyware detection programs and SP2 that we have to run on PCs today.
I have an XP 2400 cpu and I would like to do the following - Keep my exiting hard drives, replace the mother board (its an ATX) with a Gigabyte or MSI board, Replace the cpu with an AMD Sempron or Athlon 64, fit a DVD rewiter, I already have a PCI graphics card and a 400w psu, Im not realy worried about sound so onboard sound would be ample.
I use the PC for Internet access, images, a little music down loading, word and Excel, and no gaming. Can anyone suggest which CPU I should go for and maybe MOBO? Thanks for any help and maybe any replies will help someone else in a similar situation.

You CPU should be fast enough for all you need, I think you have got virus or things running that do not need to, that is slowing your computer
