I have just replaced the standard fan on my cpu for a bigger one and now on start up I get a cpu fan error press f1 to resume , why when it is running ok. The only thing I have noticed is that the power plug on the new one is a 3 pin as the old one was a 4 pin . Are there different power pins on the mainboard to plug into.

Ok so is the yellow sensor cable fitted?

You may have to co into the BIOS to disable fan speed sensing / control
