CPU Fan problem

  BarryL 17:53 26 May 2008

Dusted out (very carefully, no contact)the interior of my PC prior to re-installing XP on a new harddrive. Then found that the CPU fan spins intermittently (from 0 through jerky to normal but no consistency). Checked plug contact and no obvious reason for fault. Fan is an Akasa ball bearing Model DFC601512H DC12v 1.6W.

Any advice welcome,please!

Could be cool and quite technology or something similar. It means the fan only spins fast if the cpu is hot or under load.
If you have had no crashes and suchlike then all is well.

Get a new fan, They are only about £3 or so.

Had to go to a computer fair on sunday to get one, as my CPU fan was making nasty noises.

A new fan will be less than a new CPU.
