cpu from 1.9 to 1.2 for no reason - help

  pookie 19:15 02 Feb 2003

windows 98se - 512mb pc2100 ddr ram - 1.9xp - gainward ti4200 64mb - ecs k7 s5a mobo.

I had 256 mb ddr ram and added another 256 yesterday (crucial) and all was fine.

I booted up earlier tonight and it brought up a message that went striaght to setup screen. I didn't catch the message. In set up screen I pressed F10 and saved current settings.
I've booted up twice since and both times on start up it say my cpu is 1200, also in sisoft sandra is says it's a 1.2Ghz. It should be 1.9 and always has shown as 1.9.

Also, whilst my ram is still showing as 511Mb - sisoft sandra shows it now as 2x100Mhz (200Mhz data rate). It should be 2x133 (266Mhz) as it always has been.

What and where should I make changes in setup screen to rectify cpu and ram changes?

Many thanks
P :-)

The FSB setting appears to have been changed to 100/100Mhz in the BIOS. Change it too 133/133 and all should be back to normal.

did as you said and all is ok - whatever happened it enabled onboard sound as well even though I'd always this enabled. I'm not 'resolving' this as I'm curious if you've any ideas what happened?

It seems that you reset the BIos settings to their default values. This can be done by taking the CMOS battery out or by reseeting the jumper or by doing so in the BIOS. As you have recently installed RAM is it possible you unseated the battery?
