Could a BT engineer explain please

  paddyjack 18:58 27 Oct 2005

Trying to upgrade my connection from 512 to 1Mb, the local exchange is enabled. But according to my Isp Tiscali, my switch is caped at 512, and there is n nothing I can do about it.
I know some of my neighbour who are with BT have got the 1 Mb no trouble.

Is this just a story, or is it an actual problem, without a solution?

Im not a BT engineer, but i think you should be asking BT not Tiscali about the Line limitations.

Have a look Here for BT's line on your ADSL speed limits.

Oooops.... hyperlinks don't work like that round here do they (blush!)

every test says that the exchange is enabled up to 2MB. Thats not the problem, the problem seems to be some sort of switch or other that is caped at 512.

as a customer of Tiscali for the last 5 years I too had the same problem, I got a friend of mine next door into relm of computing and surfing and when he told me his BB speed of 1mb/sec from tiscali, at the time I was paying ?19.99 per month and he was paying ?14.99 a month. I argued for a whole week with Tiscali and when they were lying to me and DEMANDED they speed up my conection they did
