every time I start up OE I have to go into accounts and revise incoming server details which have been corrupted. pop address becomes localhost and the original pop address has been appended to account name.

turn off your pop3 scan in your anti-virus programme

it normally happens if you have Pc-Cillin

The change of the server details, to "local host", is usually caused by an email utility (most commonly an antivirus program), so that the AV program can "intercept" the email before it is donwloaded to or sent from your computer. It doesn't happen with all AV, but it's quite normal.

Unless you're having problems with sending or receiving email, you can leave it alone.

And the last thing you should do is turn off the AV scanning of incoming email - this simply removes the protection you have - unless you are having a problem.

If you are having a problem, then you should

1 Turn off email scannng in your AV program

2 Open up OE and set your pop details back to nromal - then close OE

3 Turn email scanning in your AV program back on.

This gives the AV program a chance to re-setup the email scanning and usually clears the problems.
