corrupt installation

When I try to play dvd from pc advisor no matter which subject I click on I get the message,corrupt installation or source.I am running XP.Home.Tried system restore but to no avail.Tried my O.S disc,but no option to repair.Any help appreciated.Thankyou.

have you tried this disk on a different pc? could just be a faulty one.

I have tried other discs,computer shopper etc,and I have tried discs that have previously worked ok,but I get the same message ?

I am still trying different dvd`s and on almost all I get the message,set-up files corrupt?

See if it plays CDs. It could be that the DVD laser diode has broken or the lense needs cleaning.

Yes it plays CDs.I have restored back to July when I know it was working,but when I insert the dvd a message appears "SCRIPT ERROR"?

Try a lens cleaner first. If that fails it sounds to me that the optical drive if failing on the DVD laser side.
