I have just brought a new CD-RW for my PC and when i boot up it says something along the lines of this message: "The IDE drive inserted is not compatible" even though in every other computer i have tried it in it works. I have set the jumpers to all the set position and it still dosent work. What could the problem be?

Its a 52x CD-RW. I dont know the make but the PC is a Packard Bell (about 1 year old). I dont know the mother board but the drive works in a 5 year old windows 95 computer. Mine is running XP Home. 40GB HD. Hope that helps

Have you been into BIOS to detect the drive as first thing is to get it seen by the BIOS in DOS
