Copying Video tapes

  Bucksboy 17:34 02 Jan 2004

I want to copy some video tape onto my PC then onto CDs or DVDs; can anyone tell me what cards I need to install to do this. I have aGeForce 4200 graphics card installed, but this has no connections for a video recorder to be attached to it. Many thanks, Bucksboy

You will need either an analogue TV card or better still an analogue to digital converter. There are plenty available both PCI and USB connect but best not to go for a cheap one as the quality is iffy. Its horses for courses really and you need to research it a bit before you buy. Try this for starters click here and choose products then video. You will also need burning software to go with it so make sure that whatever you choose comes with the necessary software (many do). Also try the Dazzle website as they produce a number and perhaps Haupage for TV cards.
I am sure that you will get a few recommendations.

Hiya Bucksboy,

Easy Peasy. Buy yourself a Dazzle Fusion. I've been converting VHS onto DVD for ages using this with superb results. I also connect my video camera to the computer using this. Great piece of hardware. Need to know more...just let me know ;o)
