copying c drive

i am buying a 160gig hard drive i want to copy my xp install onto itfrom my 30 gig.i know how to do the hardware part but do i have to buy software or is there any free software to copy my drive?thanks,peter.

you will normally get software with the drive to transfer your data supplied with the drive to do this. if not, or the drive is 2nd user or something, try the drive manufacturers website. you will almost certainly be able to download some software from there.

No free software available as far as I know.
I use a program called Drive image 2003 to backup all my systems

Maxtor do supply the software to do this,if your drive is a oem version you will have to go to their web site to download the software.Paddy

Yes there is free software to do this.

xxclone will copy everything from one hard disk to another.

Obviously, the target disk needs to be partitioned and formatted first though.
