Coping File to hard drive

  websurfowen 18:16 04 Dec 2006

I have tried on a number of occasion to copy a file (6gb) to my external hard drive, but each time is say this
"There is not enough room. To free up space please perform a disk cleanup"

On my computer there is 24GB FREE
And on my external hard drive there is 117GB

What can I do to copy this file over?

But why not run disk cleanup and see if it does the trick?

I have done this and in total it removed 57mb, It is a fairly new computer and there is not much on it

Does anyone have any idea of how to copy this file successfully? without showing this message

It might have something to do with the type of file.
6Gb sounds like a large video file.
What is it that your are trying to copy?
Are you running XP and how much RAM do you have?

It is the mac 'tiger-x86-flat' image

I have 1GB ram and running xp
I am using it to try and install it on my PC to run Mac OS Tiger

mac 'tiger-x86-flat' image meant nothing to me intil I put it in Google.

- I'm way out of my depth here .... hope someone who understands will help you.

Thanks for looking but does anyone else have any idea of why this keeps happening. I have tried to copy it again this morning but still without luck

It's probably because the external drive is formatted as FAT32 it needs to be NTFS format to accept a file bigger than 4GB.
