CoolerMaster CPU fan

Above said fan has extra connections male and female four pin, of the ide power variety.

Any ideas ehat they are for as the instructions say nothing?

Probably to use as a pass through with a hard drive power. Unplug the power from the hard drive plug into the femlae plug. Then plug the male into the hard drive and you have power for the fan and the hard drive. For PSUs with limited power plugs...

No Only if you don't have the type of connector the fan has then you can "make" one by adding this betweeen a power plug and a device like CD ROM or HDD.
