i'm not sure if bink video tools do it but they are great at converting files, also nero is very good but thats not free :/

Tried Nero but it doesn't recognise the mpg format.

wobbler, that's strange because I use Nero and I don't have any problem. In fact I have just burnt an MPG to DVD and it is now .vob files and plays fine.

What version of Nero do you have?

When I try and use Nero I still get "unrecognised file format"

6.6.0.1

OK, that shouldn't be a problem but you might like to update it to 6.6.1.4 at click here

You will need to download Package 1 and Package 2.

Once done and updated you need to go to "Photo and Video" and then select "Make your own DVD- Video"

Select "Add video Files" from the list. Point to the location where your Mpg file is and follow the prompts.
