Converting LP recorded music to mp3s?

  rickf 09:30 18 May 2003

Hi, I have recorded some lps to my h/d using eccd 5 platinium and are in wavw sound format. I can't seem to convert them to mp3s. Have no prob converting to mp3 from recorded music from Cds. With the former the convert button is greyed out. Am I missing something? Thanks for any info.

First off m8 ditch ECCD and get Nero - you'll be doing yourself a big favour.

From what i can remember of ECCD you just have to set it to write mp3 -you have to rember that an mp3 file is a data format not audio/music so you have to b in data mode.

I take it that you mean I can't convert now that the music ahs been recorded in wav. That I have to do change the mode before starting to record?

BTW j8hn, how do you do it in Nero. Conversion to mp3 that is.

Hi rickf!

If you've got Nero, use the wave editor, to open the WAV file, highlight the track, goto Edit>Copy To File>select the Format to 'save as' and export.

sample compressing:

WAV 1411kbps 26400kb
WMA 795kbps 14400kb
WMA 128kbps 2400kb
MP3 80kbps 1500kb.

The higher the bitrate, the better the quality.
If you intend to burn to CD R I advise using the orig WAV file, burn and then convert to MP3 if you want to save disc space.

Hope this helps, Toxin.

Have a look at click here for a good converter that will convert wave to mp3 or mp3 to wave etc. It's good and free.
