Hi I have a Compaq 286 SLT I now know where to get the drivers and diagnostic to set it up.
Problem is they have to be down loaded onto a 720 disket.

My SLT has a 1.44 floppy?.

I found this information to "make" a bootable 720K floppy from a 1.44 (cover the hole on the top right as you look from the back of the disk) Tried covering it but cant get the un ziped files onto the disket.

As my drive is a 1.44 floppy drive not a 720 how can I get round this problem?.

Surely it doesn't matter about the 'capacity' of your floppy drive (I've never heard of a 720k one).

Perhaps for "720k floppy" you should read "a floppy disk with at least 720k of spare capacity"?

"720k floppies" are single sided double density that the old amiga used to use.

1.44mb floppy should be ok though as an amiga used to read them aswell

According to Google 720 diskettes are obsolete but you may be able to get them from FloppyDisk .com.

Yes I think it will load from a 720K file to 1.44 but needs a low profile disk not high density.
It just wont load so I will keep trying.
I have found a 720K disk but it wont format I am using WIN ME.

I am surprised that win ME wont let you format that disk my laptop did until I went up to XP pro. Can you find a friend running Win 98
That WILL do it. The only difference between 720 K discs and 1.44 Meg discs is the extra hole. I have lots of 1.44 disc made by drilling that hole im 720 discs and then formatting as 1.44. In fact I made a jig to do the drilling easily.
