Convert to NTFS

Thought it was about time i did the FAT32 to NTFS conversion for my D: drive.

Conversion has started with the usual disk check, then it started the conversion process over an hour ago. I am not seeing any disk access happening, worried that it may have stalled.

Is the conversion hugely memory-based ? or would I expect to see some disk access, and how often?

You give no details of your set up, but I found this click here which has a warning in the second para. Other than that I have no help to offer I afraid.

Sorry, forgot the detail.

OS is W2K.

C: Drive is 80 GB - already NTFS.
D: Drive is 80 GB, 37 GB used.

It is not a dual-boot system

... I bit the bullet and hit reset (it had been stalled for 3+ hours).

On re-boot, Convert was fired up again, but issued the message that D: was already NTFS. Seems like the conversion had occurred, but had failed to complete properly with a re-start.

Anyway, I checked D: and it was NTFS, so I went for another re-boot, which cancelled the scheduled Conversion, and I got no more messages.

Hope this info helps others in the same predicament.
