Convert 4:3 video back to 16:9

I just downloaded a film that was originally in 16:9 widescreen format but has been stretched to 4:3, so the video looks stretched. Anyone know of any good software that will squash it back to 16:9 to make it look normal again? In other words something that will resize it from 720x576 to something like 720x436 or 720x326.

Don't think you can do that, It would look stretched

It can do it the other way round as it Crops the Picture. But it cannot put something where it blank. only way would be for it to crop the picture again losing more off the top and bottom

It's ok now I found a program called Zoomplayer that changes the display mode to 16:9 so I can just plug the PC into the DVD recorder and re-tape it. Cheers anyway.
