I have a file on a cd which is a video but Windows is telling me its a .dat file. I need to convert/shrink this file so I can upload it. Super is my normal method of conversion but that programme is telling me the file is a streamin or corrupt file.

Any ideas as I'd like to change it to a .wmv

TIA

Sounds like you have a VCD, Demora. Explore the CD using Windows Explorer, you should see a number of folders, one named "MPEGAV", open that folder and you'll see the DAT file, usually named something like "AVSEQ01.DAT". Copy that file to your desktop and rename the extension to .wmv, it should then open in WMP. You'll get a few warnings about changing the extension etc. but just click through those and answer Yes if WMP complains about playing it.

Thanks for that MAJ. I gave the 'rename' a go. BUT I still need to convert this file somehow so as my daughter can upload it to her facebook. Its a home done cartoon from somewhere. Not anything copyright.
