Control Panel Extensions

  Pesala 17:57 04 Sep 2004

I don't know whether this is a useful tip or a good way to mess up my system. I'm using Windows ME. I had so many Control Panel items that the list was too long to fit on the screen.

I created a backup folder and moved some unwanted control panel extensions (*.cpl files) to the backup folder. Now the list is much shorter, with just 25 items.

One can see what individual *.cpl files do by double-clicking on them in Explorer. Some seem to reproduce themselves when you try to move them.

Anyone see any unwanted side-effects of doing this?
