Continual beeps after boot

  Catastrophe 09:52 30 Jun 2006

I recently acquired a pc with an Intel D865GBF mobo which was working perfectly. Today I fitted an extra fan as the HDDs seemed to be getting hot. From then on I get a continuous low beep which repeats after about 0.6 seconds and keeps repeating. I have removed the fan but the beeps remain. They seem to start when Windows XP starts up - not earlier.

Any ideas please?

Sounds like a memory error - you might have dislodged the RAM during your excursion into your system and it is not seated properly.

continuous beeps is normally memory related, might be worth looking back inside tower, you might have dislodged a module somehow..

Many thanks. That has fixed it. Fan is working fine also.
