Connection to Web on PC startup slowed.

I have just upgraded my router from a Netgear DG834G v4 to a Belkin N+ wireless modem router (F5D8635-4 v1)and have noticed that on powering up my PC, ignoring the other weird happening, click here that it takes 35 seconds to get to the desktop yet a total of 85 seconds to be connected to the web.
I appreciate that getting to the desktop does not mean that startup is complete but with the Netgear, if I could see the desktop I could also see the icon indicating I was connected at almost the same time.
I have yet to study the Belkin configuration in any detail yet and there is possibly a setting I need to tweak, but if anyone has experience of this router and can point me in the right direction,I would be grateful.
I am with Be and using Win 7.
By the way I am getting over 7MB's download at any time of the day, which isn't bad as my up-to speed is only 8MB's.
