Connecting Wireless to PS3 help please

  Braniff 22:06 23 Oct 2009

I have an Acer laptop and have connected a wireless router to it using the correct cable which it came with. I followed the very simple instructions on the disc etc, took a few minutes, connected to pc with wire. The purpose of this is to have wireless internet access on the PS3. It picks up the signal 100%. I have put in the Subnet Mask, and many other numbers for things which have taken hours to find. It also wants WPA key and WEP key numbers. I have no clue what they are, I was not given any when I set up the router?
Can I have some simple help instructions please, so frustrated!

What model router is it?

Can your laptop connect to it via wireless?

If yes, and you didn't enter a WEP key then it has no security set up on it which means it is 'open' to whoever wants to access it.

If you look at the routers start page you will see a section for 'wireless settings', this where you can set up the WEP/WPA-PSK key and then enter this into the PS3

for e.g. a Netgear router's start page is click here (entered into the browser's address bar)
