Connecting PC's with USB

  gezwold 16:56 06 Dec 2004

I have just purchased a new PC and would like to know if I can connect to my old machine with a USB cable and move files to the new one. Will the old computer be recognised as a mass storage device, or am I hoping for too much?

There are kits available with a 'special' USB cable and a bit of software.
The cable is critical -there is power in the cable get itvwrong and everything fries
Investing in a flash memory thingy could colud
also if you have or can borrow a Media
card reader{camera cards] Smart Cards/Compect/etc.,
take alsorts of data not just pictures.
when done just delete all and reformat in camera

the easy thing to do, i would have thought, would be to take the hard disk out of the old PC, and put it in the new one. Copy the data you want off the old disk, then put it back in the old PC, assuming you still want to use the old PC. If you dont, just leave the old disk in the new PC, and use it for extra disk space.
