Connecting PC to HDTV

I am trying to get my HDTV to work properly with my PC. I am using an 8800GTS video card which has 2 x DVI outs on it. My monitor is connected to the primary one, my HDTV to the 2nd one.
I have managed to set up a 'clone' picture on the hdtv and it was fine, exactly how I wanted it. However, when I next booted up the machine to use it again, it wasn't sending a signal to the tv. I then checked the 'control pannel - display - settings' area and found that there is no longer an image of the 2nd display there, nor are there any options to add another display. I tried turning the TV off, then on again to see if windows would pick it up, but nothing. I have checked the connections too.

Any idea what I am doing wrong?

I'm using XP proffessional by the way.

If you want to use as a Monitor use DVI to HDMI cable. About £8 at a Computer Fair. Follow the advice I give in the above link but If you only want to use the TV as a Monitor you do not need to change Adapter settings. Just unplug Computer Monitor and connect DVI to HDMI also set TV to HDMI output
