I am looking to connect my laptop up to my TV to watch movies etc. The laptop has several usb ports and an audio port and the TV is a LG flatscreen. Any ideas of what cables I would need would be greatly appreciated.

Your TV handbook whould provide the answer, if it dos'ny then it may not be possible. Also check the TV manufacturers website...

Older laptops have a blue VGA port newer may have a HDMI

What is make and model of your machine?

Like FB says, more info - make & model - of both the laptop & TV are needed. G

I have an LG TV Model 42LD450 and a MacBook Air (I know I shouldn't be on this forum, but nobody at Mac Support could help!). Thanks

According to Apple, the MacBook Air click here has a Mini DisplayPort (looks like a smaller USB port - see above link for its location).

While the LG TV has 2x HDMI ports click here.

If both the above are right (i.e. you have them too), then you can get a 'Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter' (click here) & a regular HDMI M-M cable (£2-3 or more depending on length), OR a 'Mini DisplayPort to HDMI cable (click here). The links are examples only, & you should be able to find cheaper alternatives elsewhere, like Amazon/Play/7Dayshop. G

Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter Cable click here = £6.99 delivered
+
HDMI to HDMI Cable V1.4 0.7m click here = £2.29 delivered

OR

Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Cable 1.8m click here = £13.99 delivered

If you need longer cables, then go for the adapter + separate cable option. They do the cable up to 20m click here & various sizes in between click here (choose a Male-Male one). G

Crpssbows link to 7dayshop - just thought that I would recommend them for reliability. I have bought many things from them and always have been satisfied.
