Connecting Laptop to TV

I want to connect my laptop to a TV to watch BBC iPlayer. My laptop is quite old and runs Windows ME. There is a S Video outlet on the laptop and also one on the TV. I just know it is not going to be just a matter of plugging both ends in, the world of computers is just not that user friendly. What else do I need to do, or check.

Thanks for any advice.

It should be that easy if you have s video on both TV and laptop.
you will also need to connect an audio cable from laptop output to TV input.

I too am trying to connect my laptop to my tv although I have been advised that a vga to Scart Lead is the best way as it's only one lead and you don't need two like you do with an s cable and audio cable.

Can anyone confirm this before I go and buy the wrong cables.

Thanks in advance for any advice.
