Help, I'm going round in circles trying to connect my new laptop, an HP, with the existing home network( desktop & laptop).
New laptop recognises network; connection to internet o.k.,( through BT Homehub), and can connect to printer which is wired to Desktop. Can also "ping" to the desktop and other laptop; but not the other way round. Also "my network places shows nothing as does "show other comp's in workgroup" The network name is correctly entered but says not accessible.but "networks available" enquiry shows connected.
Other computers see new laptop in "workgroup" enquiry but cannot communicate. If enter \\newname and "run" not recognised by existing comp's, but new one accesses them.
Can anybody please help, I have run wizard several times on the 3 comp's.
Thanks in anticipation.

No did not suggest you change to Vista just checking if OS was Vista or XP
