connecting to internet via wireless.

I use a laptop and happily connect to broadband at home via a modem. however, i often visit my daughter's house; I have a pay as you go modem, but this is unfair on her phone bills. I have heard about wireless modems, but dont know much about them.
What would I need to connect to the internet via a wireless connection; could i use such a connection; pay as you go, or would i have to have a monthly contract.
also, my daugher lives in an area where normal mobile phones have little or no signal; would that, therefore be a problem?
any help would be appreciated.

You can connect wirelessly, but only if your daughter has a broadband router set up. (Or has at least got broadband installed.)

What does she have in terms of internet access?
