Hi ev1,
I have a netgear router connected to cable broadband and have another pc connected with a usb adapter with no problems whatsoever. My son has now been given an old computer that was only geared for dial up internet. How can I convert his pc to accept a broadband signal from my router. ( have tried to see if I could connect it but think I'm missing something).

I am an absolute novice to pc language so anyone willing to give me an explanation please please keep it simple.

Any help or suggestions will be warmly accepted as I can find no one else having this prob. Have searched the net in vain. Do I need to buy something for the pc so it can accept the broadband signal ???? I understand that dial up signal and broadband are different. (not completely dumb) but just don't know what it is I would need.

Waiting helplessly and fustrated

How old is the computer model # what is the OS installed

Is there a lan card or USB ports installed

If no lan card you need to install one for a hard wire system

Belkin Desktop Network PCI Card network adapter

If no USB ports or only USB 1.1 you need to install a USB 2 port card to connect a wireless adapter

Value 6 ports USB 2.0 PCI card
