connecting computers and file sharing

  markcomp 07:11 16 Jun 2005

The problem: My CV is on another computer and I need to send it urgently via email for a job.
BUT: I have been unable to network them via my router since moving from the UK.
The computer that is connected to the internet does not have a 1.44 floppy so that is out and the software for my pen drive does not support USB 1.1 on windows 98SE aagh!!
Is there a way I can connect the two by usb or other cables so i can move this file prior to sorting out the other problems??

connect the 2 machines directly via a crossover cable should do the trick

More simply - get a USB file sharing kit - a special USB cable and some software. Should be available in almost any computer shop.

Though there should be no reason that you can't have a proper netwokk via the router.

A common cause of failure to see computers on a network, via a hub/switch/router, is software firewalls.

Try disabling any firewalls and see if that works.

If the router setup doesn't work, I can't see a direct crossover cable being any different.
