connecting camera/printer

cannot seem to connect my camera via usb or printer via parrallel port. on the printer side when switched on, "found new hardware" and make comes up but states an error ocurred during installation. on device manager a device called NIC1394 has a yellow? and a ! in a yellow circle. don't know what they are, could they be the cause?

yes, right click and select remove, it appears you are trying to install over a previous bad installation, when removed re boot and run the cd which will tell you when to connect cam etc

You must have a firewire installed which is the NIC 1394. Seems you have a conflict

You may try moving the carde into a different slot

Also In device manager remove any items showing a problem and reboot.

disabled device, enabled device and device manager states its not working properly. what is a NIC1394?

  De Marcus 19:33 25 Jun 2005

you have to right click on it and select uninstall, then reboot the pc.

uninstalled nic1394, rebooted pc and attached camera, no camera found and nic1394 re-appeared on device manager and still not working. what is a nic1394?

Hi, it looks as if you have a Firewire pci card in your pc. I would advise that you remove the Firewire card and then try your printer and then your camera separately - without the Firewire pci card.

Good luck

when you rebooted the pc did you allow windows to reinstall the firewire drivers before re-attaching camera?

  Technotiger 21:37 25 Jun 2005

ps - as already stated above - NIC 1394 is the Firewire connection. This could be on a separate Firewire card, or possibly on your sound card if you have a Soundblaster Audigy2.
