Just installed my wireless card into 3 year old laptop. I have the BT home hub on my PC with wirless. I'm having no luck with trying to connect with the laptop, I've followed all the 'Help' notes but nothing. Wot am I doing wrong??? help losing the will to live...

hi,
have you installed the wireless card drivers?
can you see your network identification on your laptop?
Have you entered the security code wep or wpa?

Agree with bd. You will need to get the driver from the WLAN site or CD as Windows will necessarily load it for you.

Ive downloaded the cd which came with the card and input the WEP code etc. It keeps telling me to put a USB driver into my PC - do I need this as I have the wireless function on the BT home hub?? its BT Fusion 0089.

1, Is it a wireless dongle?
2, do usb ports work on your laptop?
3. does the laptop recognise the dongle when you plug it in?

sorry whats a dongle? if you mean the wireless card then yes the laptop recognises its there. Ive tried window to establish the connection now but now its telling me that there is no wirless connection available? my PC is on as is the BT Home hub.

Hi,
Are you using XP ?
Are you using the software supplied with the card to enter the WEP code or windows network manager?
What make /model is your card?

  dumb brunette 18:14 24 Oct 2008
