Conflicting hard drive status's

  Hetti 14:17 20 Dec 2009

I ran two hard drive health status checks (as PC is running very slow)one from the manufactures website (Seagate)nd one from Ashampoo HDD control.

Seagate said congrats you hard drive passed the tests,

Ashampoo said :
Hard drive operating very poorly, there are signs of wear, there are many transmission errors, likely to be caused by defective cable or a mechanical flaw.
Health rating is given as 50% not good,
performance is given as 70% poor,
The hard drive is exactly 2 yrs old and might still be in the guarantee period but as Seagate is the manufacture and they say the drive is not defective so I will not be able to return it.

Which of the two results is liable to be correct?

Why worry which is correct as you obviously have doubts about the drive so it makes sense to get another drive now and ensure that your data is safe. Worry about returning hard drive afterwards. If it is OK you can always use it for back-ups.
