Confirm new hard drive

  charliep 20:02 21 Aug 2006

My laptop recently packed up on me and I had to send it back to the manufacturers for repair. Theyve told me the hard drive was at fault as it had 'bad sectors' and will need a new hard drive.

Being the suspicious character that I am, I just had a thought that they might just repair the bad sectors and reformat the disc.

Is there any way to confirm that the hard drive is indeed a new one?

As they have the hard drive, thee is only 2 options open to you.
1]]Accept their word, and get a new hard drive

2]] Ask for it to be returned to you-unrepaired- pay any service charges, and try and repair it yourself.

Was the laptop under guarantee?, if so let tyhem do it, either way it is going to cost you money.
