Configuring access point in client mode

  JGS2524 22:17 02 Jan 2009

I've configured a Tenda WP54A wireless access point to work in client mode to provide a wireless connection to a laptop. The laptop is seeing the AP, via the ethernet port and the AP says its connected succesfully to the router (Sky Sagem).

But despite the AP and router being configured to work using DHCP, the laptop initially has trouble acquiring a network address and then reports that the local area connection has limited or no connectivity and doesn't give an internet connection.

Also, when you switch to another computer and look into the routers configuration, it doesn't list the AP as an attached device, despite the AP saying it is!

I've tested the laptop with both cabled and wireless card connections to the router and it works fine. The eventual idea is to use the AP to give a wireless connection to an Xbox 360, but can't get it working at the moment!
