Hi, i was wondering if you might be able to help me? I'm trying to configure my home pc to act as a server so i can create a website with a database and see if it works.

Many thanks

You just need to install the web server and the database server on the machine.

What server and database do you have in mind?

I'm not really too sure on this, i have been told many things by many different people, it's just deciding what would be easier to use and configure.

If you want to create a website and database and make sure it works before moving it to a web host, then you should look at what web server and database your web host uses and try to use these yourself.

95% sure most use Apache and MySQL, both are open source and should be available to install on your home PC.
