conditioning a new laptop battery.

Hi
I have just got a new Li-ion battery for my laptop. Its a new battery, but not an original IBM.

A bit of paper that came with the new battery said that I need to cycle the battery up to 5 times, fully charging and discharging it to get maximum storage capacity.

However looking at IBMs website, it says that fully discharging Li-ion batteries will damage them.

So what should I do? Can I just charge it up the once and then use it normally, or do I need to cycle it a few times 1st?

Thanks

Hi, I would just charge it up once and then use it normally - I think they usually reach their peak naturally after some use.

Cheers

When is says discharge, it means run on battery till it shuts it's self down after battery warning it should do this safely
