computer wont respond turns on but nothing

Hi ladies and gentlemen ihave a bit of a problem with a computer it starts all cd drives and burner have power on start up there is nothing no power to the motherboard. I did take out the memory no response.Im lead to beleive the mother board may be finished is there a way to start the computer when there no power to the board. Im wondering if any one else as had this problem thanks. Does any one think this may be the case cheers all

no power = no work

when you switch on, are there any lights flashing on the FDD or CD-ROMS?

if not, it's probo the PSU, very easy to replace

Thats what i throught So does this mean the motherboard is no good is it better to throw away and buy a new board i was thinking of rebuilding cheers again

yes the cd drives are flashing

yes the fans come on put the board is not collecting information

what i mean to collecting information is thatthe computer turns on the drives and light all work looks very nice. but the montor and every thing else wont start ive changed the video card still nothing if i was to take out the battary would this do anything it got me puzzled
