Computer won't boot up

  benjy911 14:38 07 Mar 2009

As said in the title the computer won't boot up. It is running windows XP and when you try to press F8 or DEL nothing happens so you can't get into safe mode. It also mentions a boot media device cannot be found.

Anyone got any ideas on how to sort it?

Thank you,

Its not reading your hard drive.

Check as you first switch on that your HDD is listed as the computer posts.

if not boot to Bios and see if it appears in there.

if not remove covers and check all cables / swap cables if required.

When you try and boot to bios the computer makes an odd vibrating noise through the built in speaker.

Open up pc and unplug your hard drive and see if it boots to bios. (make sure to unplug from mains before opening comp!)
