Sorry I couldn't think of a better title
I have been having trouble over the last few days, everytime I click on a folder it opens as a different one, when I point to iten=ms on start they flicker like mad and drop down menus scroll on and on.
I tried a repair using my Windows Xp disc no joy then tried full installation nothing. I have taken it back to my local shop where I got it from 18months ago, he has done 2 reinstallations I have tried it in the shop for 5-10mins worked okay got it home within 10-15 mins back to square 1.
I have Win XP updated to SP2 thePCman updated it to SP3 saying that would solve the problem.I'm getting a liitle tense now don't fancy delving into the innards but would be grateful for some advice, it's okay at the moment

"tried it in the shop for 5-10mins worked okay got it home within 10-15 mins" - unplug everything but your mouse, keyboard and monitor. One of your peripherals may be causing the problem...

Did the repair shop use your keyboard and mouse or their own? If it works at the shop but not at home then it must be something that isn't common to both locations. If you still have the problem after following brundle's suggestion then try another keyboard and mouse.
