Computer STILL dead

I posted last week that my computer was dead. I changed the fuse in the plug, CMOS battery and with advice the PSU. Still dead. The PSU is all pluged in ok buy nothing.

Could the motherboard be damaged or could the new PSU be faulty?

Please - can anyone help?

Two things to check,
1/Is there a loose wire in the plug.
2/Is the switch on the PSU set to the on position.
If these are OK have you plugged the 20 pin plug on to the MOBO correctly.

yes - all three ok but still no joy.

When you switch on do any lights come on?, if so where.

Are you aware that some motherboards have 2 power connections?, I also had a no power problem after building a pc, only to find that I had only used one of the power connections. Once I connected the second smaller one I was up and running.

I've connected the ATX 12v connector and the 20 pin ATX power connector and nothing! no light or sound.

Could the on/off switch be knackered?

"Could the on/off switch be knackered?" - yes, could be. Try 'shorting' the motherboard headers (with a screwdriver or similar), where the on/off switch wire attaches to the motherboard (small trick learnt from woodchip). Please be careful - you need to short the correct ones. G

Should've also said that I've tied it myself in the past & it WORKS (that's if the motherboard IS getting power of course). G
