Computer Sound

My speakers suddenly stopped working so because there was no power light showing on them even after trying different power sockets I assumed that they were faulty and bought some new ones.

Now the new ones don't work either.

Can anybody suggest how I can work out what the problem is.

I did nothing to the computer prior to this apart from updating my Logitech software just for for mouse and keyboard.

Thanks

Check Device Manager first to see if sound chip/card is working properly.

If working ok, try rolling back driver.

To test that the speakers are live, try removing the small plug at the back of the PC and plug it in to an extension speaker socket on an old cassette player or radio. Quality may be awful but you have proved the speakers are alive!

Or
At full volume touch the various bare bits on the end of the tiny plug that you removed from the PC.
There should be a loud hum if you touch the right segment of the plug.

We are of course assuming the obvious: i.e. that the volume level on your pc sound chip/card is not set to min!

Many thanks to all who replied.

Ame your suggestion of rolling back the driver has done the trick.Brilliant!

Much appreciated.

Tony.
