Hi folks,as of late my computer has been slowing down a bit with some pages taking a while to load and sometimes the connection has timed out(3 attempts to get in here)I've ran ccleaner, ran avg antispyware and antivirus,I've got over half my hardrive free.Any advice as to what to try next? Thanks.

when you say slow,do you mean in terms of surfing or in general ie launching apps
what spyware have you installed?
which browser do you use?

Take the side of the case off and vacuum the insides especially the fan areas. I'm sure I don't need to mention the words 'common+sense' when you are sticking the vac inside the computer ;-)

In terms of spyware I have spywareblaster, adaware, spybot and avg.I use firefox, everything's up to date. The computer just seems a bit slower in general but when opening websites in particular sometimes it seems a bit long or times out.I'll check inside the case for dust although it was just a few months ago when I last had it open.Thankyou.

try uninstalling spybot you can always pop it back on

also run click here it fixes 10 at a time, then just re run till all fixed(once a category is clear deselect it to speed up the scans)
also theres a speed up system button

in firefox
type about:config
set http pipelining to true
set http pipelining max requests to 8
set http proxypipelining to true
then right click anywhere on page new integer
nglayout.initialpaint.delay and set value to 0
i find this is faster than using firetune

Same problem within the last week.I am with NTL so thought it may have been there fault.Tried most things and have not came up with fix yet,Was just wondering if it was an after effect from the Microsoft downloads last week.Just running a bit slower than normal,i am on Firefox at the moment but it's the same with IE7.

Buteman,I'm also with ntl(virgin media)I wonder if that's just a coinsidence?P.s,how do you highlight the name before you start your speil? Thanks.

how did you get on with the reg cleaner, that will give you a decent speed boost,i also found spyware blaster conflicted with spybot (web page speed)
