Computer Screen Problems

Hello. I currently run Windows Me with 256mb RAM, and an AMD Athlon processor.

Recently I have been having problems with my screen; for example, when my computer is left on for long periods of time I start to suffer from memory leaks and my screen seems to go completely black with a green line showing at the top.

I then have to shut down the computer via the power button.

I have not installed any new applications, cleaned my registry and hard drive, ran selective startup, but nothing seems to have solved the problem.

A search on google failed to come up with any related links on the subject.

Any ideas?

used to get this problem with the GForce 2 video card and after changing the NVidia Reference Drivers, seemed to clear the problem. Also check Windows Update and get all patches for the OS. I do remember an issue with memory leaks within ME which was something to do with with System Restore. Try disabling it for a few days to see if it clears the problem...

Is it a TFT/LCD screen, or cathode ray tube? My Sony TFT experienced similar problems -- they fixed it for me, so I don't know what it was except that it was definately the screen.
