Computer "logs off" automatically

Good morning - I would be grateful for some help with this problem please.
I have just re-installed my Windows 7 Home Premium everything went well except that now if I stop using my computer it automatically "logs off".
This happens one minute after I stop doing something.
When I log on again it takes me back to the place I was before it logged off.
I've never had anything like this before - can someone help with advice - thank you for your time - Ian

that it's set for a very short time before "sleeping" or "standby"...

Check the Power options; Go to Control panel and type "Power" in the search box. "Power Options" should be one of the areas that appears.

I can't remember the exact button sequence, but have a look at the options in there.

Good luck,

Simsy - Thank you for that.
I checked my settings and they are all for one hour.
I even did a memory check to if it was anything to do with that, but no joy.

Check that the screen saver is not active.

If that's not the reason, try and have a look at your setting in you Local Group Policy by clicking on Win+R, type gpedit.msc
Navigate to Computer Configuration>Windows Settings>Security Settings>Local Policies>Security Options and check the setting here.

You may have to be logged on as Administrator for the above.

maybe set them to never and see if that sorts out the problem.

Choose when computer sleeps.Never.Never.

Choose when to turn of the display.Never.Never.

Thats what I have set mine to and get no problems.

recap - I run Home Premium which doesn't have the "gpedit.msc" facility
buteman - I have done as you suggested but it didn't make any difference.
Thank you for your input
